In the context of the shameful shower of shit in power the men in tights etc will be out of place.
The point of the rules,customs and the building itself was that as a whole it would be greater than the sum of its parts.
A great institution in other words.
Wiser men than us over hundreds of years developed Parliament and these quirky customs had a reason.
To remind the people in power that they are not eternal. That a power greater than them presides.
In my day all the 'Men in Tights' were ex NCOs and a large proportion of the security were ex armed forces.
Alas things have changed as we have found with the useless serjeant at arms Gill Paye.
Going back to the good old days may be the best way forward.

So true, his blog has managed to push my youtube viewing figures on certain vids from the usual pissy 300, into the 6,000 mark. And that's just the few of his readers that actually bother watching my crap. Bloggers like OH and co are leading the new media, the message is getting out.

OH, old stick, you did a thing that was good in and of itself, but please don't cheapen it by deluding yourself that small scale peaceful protest can change anything, in any way, at all, ever.

@Rogerborg, most things start as a small scale and the interest amongst the people I know in this walk has increased massively since last year. It may not take that long for this to cease to be that small scale.
