Climate Change - The New Religion

I wondered how long it would take:

A man who claims he was unfairly dismissed from his job because he believes in climate change is attempting to have his environmental views recognised under religious law.
I'll be watching this one closely.

Interesting if he wins - can cut both ways.

As Global Warming Skeptic my beliefs are being ignored and I am being discriminated against with higher taxes.

My thoughts entirely. I refuse to pay a tithe to any "religion".

If he is successful then surely any belief can be considered a religion? It doesnt need any scientific backing as conventional religion has no scientific backing?

That Jedi Knight who was thrown out of Tesco for wearing his sacred robe will be watching this closely.

So not only an gullible idiot, but a gullible idiot with a persecution complex, eh?

Perfect Cabinet material, methinks.

This gent is effectively confirming that his belief in AGW is faith-based, not science-based. Excellent. When can we expect similar admissions from Porritt and Milliband?

This story doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Enviromentalism is in many ways a secular religion. It's even got a high priest, George Monbiot.

Climate change equals tax us all for the weather!

I confidently expect him to turn up working HERE

Well said Tom Paine!

However, Prince Charles will come to his rescue. He's on record as saying that he doesn't want the title "Defender of THE faith" when or if he acceeds to the throne, but wishes to be "defender of faith"- any faith.
Right, I believe that the earth is flat, that we are ruled by lizards disguised as humans, and the ozone layer is actually made from custard.
I'm being persecuted for my beliefs, so can I expect Prince Charles to come to my defence?

What Tom Paine said. I blogged about this tit a few months back and at the time I said I hoped like hell he'd win. Actually I thought he already had from something the Cat Counters said last month. Bit harsh for the poor sods who employed him and have to pay up for this, but since recognition of its religious nature means we need give it no more weight than [insert most preposterous religious belief you can think of] it's a massive own goal for Big Eco.

Thanks JD. Now if "Global Warming" is finally debunked, will OH not be able to sell his windmills any more?

On the button, Tom. Exactly my thoughts when I read that. Bring it on. :-)

There are a few other moral crusades which I'd consider religion rather than factual or socially advantageous, too.

Climate Change a religion.... who's their God then? Al-fucking-Gore I suppose! If this guy wins his case, then expect to see shite like.... "Vegan Builder claims unfair dismissal after being sacked for not wearing safety boots (cause they're made from animal products) in favor of his hemp sandals". It'll also be interesting where I work as Vodka is practically a religion to the Polish.... Still, I won't have to deal with them cause I'll be allowed to sit in my office watching Porn all day... well it's my religion!!
