Who is this Bloke ?

I have just seen the speech by Kenny MacAskill on letting the Libyan, Megrahi, go, I had never come across him before, but zeroed on his politics immediately.

It was the bit when he mentioned the Prisoner Exchange Agreement with Libya, negotiated by the 'UK Government'. ie 'nothing to do with me guv, it was the bloody English again' forcing us to do something.

Then putting a positive spin on the whole thing by saying it that it was Scottish Compassion (something he maintains the Scots are world famous for) that prompted the release.

I would have more respect for Scots Nationalism, if it had the balls to say this is a Scottish Decision made under Scottish Law, rather than all the bleather about the English forcing this particular poisoned chalice on him, especially considering who the unelected Prime Minister is currently. Tack on the compassion bit if you will.

The realpolitik is that we have made up with the Libyans, we need their proven oil and gas reserves ( The utter irony of the Germans and Brits driving and fighting over all this oil in 1942, to control the middle eastern oil fields further east)

The three hundred people killed when the Iranian Airliner was shot down do not count, the three hundred people killed over Lockerbie do not count and Megrahi does not count. The game has moved on in the last twenty one years.

So sorry, Kenny, Mandelson gets the lunch with Ghaddaffi's son, you just get the climb down.

It all evens up eventually. Quaddafi sang like a canary about IRA volunteers who had been in Libya.

Al Megrahi drops his appeal in exchange for release. The British and US governments avoid any embarrassing revelations and can cry crocodile tears over Scottish justice. SNP demonstrate independent action.
Everyone's a winner!

You must be reading a different speech from me. I saw no reference whatsoever to "the bloody English". All I saw was his perfectly accurate statement that PEA was put in place UK-wide by the British government in London, that it is binding on the devolved Holyrood parliament (and, for that matter, the Welsh and Northern Irish Assemblies) and that the Holyrood parliament has no authority whatsoever to set it aside.

I know this is hard for some English people to grasp, but you just don't feature very highly in the list of Scottish political priorities. The English obsess over the Scots; the Scots, meanwhile, get on with running their country.

Holburn,

Now who's spinning? The English were never mentioned, what was mentioned was Westminster's failure to acknowledge Scotland's request to be excluded from the Libyan prisoner exchange, which was a Uk/Libya agreement, hence Kenny's statement.

Yes it was SNP heavy, worded, but my oh my does NuLiebore and their twin in waiting Tories not do exactly the same?

As previously posted, everyone's a winner, other than the families of the victim and al-Magrahi's family too. He did protest his innocence for his entire period in jail.

Absolutely fucking disgraceful. The whole speech was a tour de force of sophistry and prevarication, verbal darrhoetic abdication and abrogation of any responsibility to real justice and those who lost their lives or are left behind.

I am ashamed to live on this fucking island today.

It wasn't even him who did it.

Rewatch the bit about Scottish Objections to the PEA negotiated by the 'UK Government' the sub text is there, and what I clocked that this guy was SNP.

The fact that I did not know who he was shows that as an Englishan I do not obsess about Scotland, in fact I will go on record as saying Scots Law is more user friendly than English Law. I have used it.

I don't know who this man is but he does look like he's trying to curl one out in that photo.
Does that amount to the same thing?

We the public no nothing of this case. This duplicitous Meghri is a small pawn in a bigger game. The Iranians subcontracted the bombing to Gadaffi. The actual bombers remain free. The mastermind, Gadaffi, is feted in turn by Blair then Brown.

Oil/gas and a promise to outlaw Libyan terrorists from targetting UK.

Savonarola has it in a nutshell. Bigger interests are behind this and 'justice' doesn't come into it.

Of course there is another agenda. And don't you just love the breathtaking indignation from the US of A.

The porridge eating surrender monkeys have exposed themselves as a bunch of lily livered and cowardly turncoats willing to betray their friends and allies at the drop of a hat. They should be utterly ashamed of themselves, they are an utter disgrace and America should simply send in the B52's and bomb them back to the Stone Age which in their case isn’t very far. Cunts !!

And, despite being unelected, England, too.

Guthrum, as far as I am aware Tony Blair's signing of the Prison Exchange forced the Scottish government into this. If this document had had an exemption for Scottish prisoners the whole issue would never have arisen.

That was our Justice Secretary you saw on TV Guthrum. I fine specimen of a Scotsman don't you think? ;)

perhaps we are missing the real events al la stephen byers "good day to bury bad news"

July borrowing hit £8bn, normally should be £500 mn , this figure is already above treasury forcasts making darlings £175bn for year look a bit wrong . No wonder Mervin King was looking at £200bn QE as that is what I think the ruin is going to borrow for this year.

Kenny McAskill is a Scottish cunt who has pissed on the graves of the dead. I'm fucking disgusted to the marrow of my bones, never again will I spend in or visit that shit hole Scotland ever again.

Would these be the same "porridge eating surrender monkeys" who beat the living hell out of a terrorist at Glasgow airport - while he was still on fire?

Of course, if we're going to judge an entire nation based on the actions of one politician who should we pick for England? Jacqui Smith? Mandelson? Cameron? Nick Griffin? Or how about Tony Blair, who was the first to chum up to Gadaffi and started the whole damn process in the first place?
