Nothing to hide, nothing to fear

Meet Beatrix Campbell of the Grauniad. Here is a little piece she "wrote" for Pravda

Philip Pullman is fizzing… dark antibodies are fighting his freedom of speech. He is one of a clutch of esteemed children's writers and illustrators protesting against a vetting scheme that would extend to writers what already applies to anyone working with children in schools: a vetting scheme.
They protest that they're never "alone with children", so why should they be vetted. They've been going into schools for years, they say, so why now?
Pullman, in particular, feels that vetting is "demeaning and insulting", another index of "corrosive and poisonous" state intervention.
What on earth is their problem?
Any writer-in-residence working with young people in schools, prisons and care facilities is vetted – I have been, several times – whether or not they work with crowds, groups or individuals.
We should be glad to do it if it confirms childrens' rights to safe access to adults. The gesture – so slight, after all – should signal to young people that their school thinks their bodily integrity matters; and that it matters more than a minor interruption of adults' privacy.
This institutional promise should exact no less commitment from us than our routine surrenders to scrutiny in the name of public safety. Why are these writers threatening to withdraw from schools and children when, presumably, they submit to the plethora of surveillance systems that are proliferating across public space?
Whether we agree with passports, identity cards, frontiers or road safety, we generally assent to their impact on our individuals freedoms. Liberty, the civil liberties and human rights guardian, was taken by surprise when it conducted a survey of public attitudes to CCTV in the streets – most people approved.
We give ourselves up to body checks when we travel by Eurostar and when we take a plane. Do these same authors refuse to travel other than by their own bicycles or cars on the grounds that such searches of our property and our persons imply a "demeaning" suspicion that we're all terrorists?
Custom officers now check your eyes when you cross our national frontiers. Do the writers boycott foreign travel?
In every corner shop, in every railway station, at every junction, there is CCTV. The artist Banksy has marvellously satirised the phenomenon with his image of a camera and "what you looking at?" stencilled on an empty wall. The cameras are, of course, looking at everyone and no one.
They signify that everyone can be under suspicion. But they also signal a wish to contribute to collective safety.
Whether any of this is any use is, of course, another matter. But if it is worth letting someone check your body and examine the contents of your bag at an airport, then it is worth letting the computer check whether you've committed crimes against children before you are allowed to attract their attention in their schools.

OK Beatrix, I am not going to get into a longwinded rant about the assumption of guilt before innocence, the tardy "if you've nothing to hide" argument, the idiocy of your argument that CCTV is good for the "collective safety" or your that having your details on a State computer is a "minor interruption of an adult's privacy".
Instead, I am going to show you that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Consider yourself a fully paid up member of every Islamic Extremist organisation in the world. I have just put your name and email address on their mailing lists. You are also now a member of the BNP AND Respect. I have signed you up. You will shortly find your name and photo on Gaydar. You have joined Pro Palestinian and Pro Zionist organisations. You are now a member of the friends of Huntingdon Life Sciences AND an eco warrier. Your email address is the weapon I shall be using against you on the big wide Internet. The one that is closely monitored by the ever so nice State.
Don't worry, you have nothing to fear, do you?

Excellent stuff OH. Remind me never to get on the wrong side of you!

She just doesn't get it, does she?

Her suggestion that there is a choice whether to participate in being watched and checked and monitored is just laughable.

What a fucking idiot she is.

From what I gather of Mzzz Campbells personal life she would rather enjoy being frisked by Nicole Kidman or some bull dyke at Heathrow. Low blow but hell, I'm annoyed at conjo like her.

You fucking beauty, OH. I nearly had an aneurysm when I read that shit she'd written.

Isn't there a quote from Atlas Shrugged along the lines of "only the man who has nothing to offer has nothing to hide"? She's adamant she has nothing to hide and after reading her dribble it's obvious she has nothing to offer. Except perhaps a target.

Wan't the right to some sort of privacy a fundamental human right? Did I just imagine that? Is my memory playing tricks? You could use the "nothing to hide.... thing for every intrusion no matter how outrageous.

VotR said...

She is clearly living on planet Labour-spin. People have everything to hide, and everything to fear... from an invasion of privacy.

And Labour want jobseekers to shell out 60 odd quid to have their details added permanently to yet another government database? Since when was working at a school, or even visiting, like trying to apply for a job at MI6? And are Labour having a laugh?

People won't be afraid of applying for the new vetting process, more like put off by its loony left complexity and stealth tax. What a waste of cash. I can really see that shit working. Labour and their fucking policies, not on planet Earth but somewhere up in the clouds. And typically doing more harm than good for the economy, which is in dire straits as it is. Using dead girls as political figureheads for advertising and justification is wrong, it is child abuse in itself as the very act is an abuse of power. The two dead children cannot say no. There is already a CRB process in place. Labour have used dead children to further their own political aims to control the populace, create a stealth tax and register even more peoples details on another type of national register / database. The fuckers.

We are all guilty of something, and we all need the State's intervention to keep us in line. Welcome to the Socialist paradise!

Just been reading her entry on Wikipedia, it's all rather predictable stuff, and the outline of her meddling in child abuse cases makes for teeth-grinding reading.

Bravo, OH! Bravo! More of this, please.

What really irks is that a subsidized propaganda flyer is probably paying this loathsome halfwit quite a dollop of dosh to spout this idiotic, poisonous, unconscionable bilge.

Oh... would that Autotrader went titsup - I wish - then we wouldn't have to waste our time battling this shit!

Grauniad 'liberals' cosying up to the überstate control grid; it's a funny old game, is it not.

We're ruled by a bunch of self-hating deviants who yearn for a time when everyone else is so maladjusted and fucked up that they, for once, don't stand out as the human-alien hybrids they are.

It's yet another "They Live" moment.

Bang on OH.
I like reading the guardian CIF, and I've been onto this silly bitch for years. I deliberately read none of her articles, cos I know it will set my blood vessels popping like bonfire night.

OH. there may be something in this. Over the last 2 years I have seen several photographs and videos of children in the media. On many occasions the children seem to be in the presence of a gotch eyed, slack jawed and generally suspicious looking Hoon invariably dressed in a crumpled suit. Does that cunt have a CRB check I wonder?

You are right, this and other measures are more about control than child protection. A means of intimidating and controlling the citizens of this socialist paradise we have found ourselves in.

Joe Public said...

In the interests of (Health &)Safety, I'd prefer to know that all the little buggers in the class have passed a CRB check!

Newgates Knocker said...

Joe public,
Correct. At my daughters school most of the kids are probably on drugs, carrying sexually transmitted diseases or emotionally stunted. They probably don't even know what a author is!

The CiF crowd at the Grauniad also gave her a right roasting, requiring a large proportion of editorial moderation/censorship - not that she'd ever read comments below the line (too hazardous for her inflated self-esteem).

Wonderful prank OH.

She'll learn the hard way (hopefully). She chose to rise on false piety. Now let her face the long drop down to her perceived abyss - reality. May it bite her hard.

I shall be watching her fall with interest, as a lab technician might a rat.

Well, certainly not in her case.

But the current Children's Laureate was pushed out to defend the government in this morning's 'Times' too, by totally misrepresenting Pullman's point:

This recent little bit of rebellion seems to have worried them.

Good! More please, and faster...

Indeed OH you have nothing to fear as long as you are a state stooge happily manipulated and betrayed by the liblabcon NWO stooge party.

Second you step outside of THEIR authorised lifestyle you are open to any abuse they see fit.

Stopping your right to work for who you wish - the police, the prison service and victimising you with their political stazi also known as the police in our police state (handing out leaflets that expose goverment hypocracy and the idocy of their NWO policies)

You see Hitler and Stalin could have used the very same slogan `if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear` only problem is it is `them` who decide what is now something people may wish to hide and `they` are changing the rules by the day.

Next it will be 10 years for anyone who denounces the EU(they have the legislation on the back burner as we speak, and then many people may have something to hide.)

Not so bad in a true democracy as you can always opt for another party right? not quite - trouble is when the NWO control all the main parties from the top down, there is no viable alternative that they will not make illegal to make sure you always have something to hide i9f you dissagree with their politcal agenda even if in mere protest,
people with nothing to hide will simply be willing state slaves and mainly those emplyed by the sate.

The other method they are currently introducing is to criminalise everything including free speech and the total trivia, this way with their complete access to you through their database spying etc they can be sure to get you for something if they don't like your politics or opposition to the NWO politics.

In short once they have their tentacles deep inside your private emails etc they can legislate anything no matter how insane - gas chambers lets say and any protestors they can spy on and destroy, if they cannot get you with a direct attack they will do what a traffic cop will do and get his fine tooth comb out and go over your car until he finds something, even if it is a bit of mud on your number plate and bingo he has you and can intimidate you with trivia as often as he likes. It brings about a state of fear and total compliance in a closed political system run by the NWO.

The Tories will be the same NWO Nazis.

They will place more emphis on law and order and responsabilities, while everything else remains as it is - degenerating and fragmentating the UK.

This law and order nonsense may seem welcome at first but what it will mean is law and order will continue to be out of control - as planned meaning massively more police state control - as planned and the final stripping of Britains assetts.

They will play the smoke and mirrors game on immigration while blocking 5 cockle pickers comming from china through the front door but allowing in 5 million from Turkey - yes `Dave` thinks this is a good idea - ask him!

In short it will be a massive ramping up of the police state and the continued fragmentation of the country, ending with Dave destroying British democracy as he knows the people of Britain will not tollerant this sham for much longer and therefore must be deprived of all their rights as soon as possible.

If not all their rights then the people themselfs must be replaced in the ongoing genocide of the British for his banker masters and their stooges in goverment.

They can all fuck off. They already have my fucking DNA for a arrest with no charge.

I pray we can get organised and actually put some real pressure to change this before it's too late, as many have pointed out, it's nearly to late already.

Only someone like her could say "...presumably, they submit to the plethora of surveillance systems that are proliferating across public space? " as though this is good thing, silly cow.

I don't understand why millions will be required to pay both the Criminal Records Bereau, wot a stupid name ( http://www.crb.gov.uk/ ) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority ( http://www.isa-gov.org/ ) their annual geld for identical checks to prove that they are still not perverts or maniacs.

Are such things done on Albion’s shore? Philip Pullman I for one, salute you.

*applause* fantastic stuff, OH.

Absolutely bloody fantastic OH! I salute you! Bet she won't like finding the boot is on the other foot! I hadn't heard about all this rubbish (VBS etc) & having found out, I'm spitting blood. I am a reasonably fit & active OAP & on the basis of 'putting something back into the community' I am a volunteer Skills for Life (the three R's) tutor at my local Adult Ed Centre & I'm also a volunteer befriender for the elderly, part of a local church group (although neither a church member or goer). For both of these activities I have had to be CRB checked (seperately of course, heaven forbid that an enhanced CRB check could cover more than one position), which the organisations have paid for not me. Presumably, I am now on a govt DB because of this, which I hate but am prepared to endure because I feel I am providing a useful service (for free). However, I am fucked if I am willing to undergo yet another round of vetting, be added to yet another DB and pay out £64 for that privilege - so if push comes to shove, I will walk away & I will encourage as many others that i know in the same position to do the same - only a massive fightback will have any effect.

Have you read the comments below the article? Page after page shredding her and in her arguments. Even in Guardian-land she's having trouble finding someone to agree with this mendacious bilge!

Anonymous said...

Sorry to double post OH, but have you thought of signing her up as being interested in having an early version of the ID card so that she can really appreciate state surveillance? Once her name is on that list of 'interested people' you just know her details will be circulated far & wide in Stasi land. Have you signed her up for any porn or looking for a shag sites? Again, sign for one site & you get all sorts of strange things arriving in your Inbox.

If you really want to mess someone up, print off a plausible looking death certificate for them - it's not rocket science - and send it to every arm of the State that you can think of. Half of State systems are unable to deal with "un"-deceasing a person, and they'll be unpicking the mess for years.

Fuck me.

Bodily integrity matters. Yeah 'cos when I was at school I was so upset at the blatant disregard the school showed towards my bodily integrity. I really needed a signal.

I am in shock reading this.
