Law What Is it Good For

Today Debbie Purdy is awaiting for a decision from the Law Lords on whether her partner would be prosecuted when she decides to end her life when it becomes intolerable.

For all the moralising by the Church and the State, Debbie Purdy's Life is her own, it does not belong to the State or the Established Church. For her partner to be with her on her final journey to Switzerland, is surely not a crime but an act of compassion and love.

Today Andre Power is in the High Court, when Treasury Solicitors will argue that the Civil Service is not responsible in Law for the negligence and incompetence of its employees. A two tier legal system will come in today if he loses as it will enshrine in Law that you cannot sue the State for the effects of its incompetence.

UPDATE Corby Borough Council has been found to be be negligent in the way they disposed of toxic waste from a disused Steel Works, so why do the treasury solicitors think they are above the Law ? is running with this story has the lead today. However you heard it here first folks on Old Holborn and the Libertarian Party blog !

The Police have finally realised that they are fighting a losing battle against the drug culture, as did the prohibitionists did in pre war America.

The Law is something very few of us want to get involved in, because ninety five per cent of us cannot 'afford' Justice. However the Law is imposed on us and has a direct influence on the way we live our lives. Unless we can all economically insure ourselves against prosecution. The battle between the State and the individual will be lost.

All I can say is, the very best of luck today to both Debbie & Andre. And whatever the results, high praise for their courage in standing up for what they believe in & pursuing what they believe to be right. I hope they succeed because I too believe they are right.

The law is the bitch of the government. The amount of laws being passed and twisted in favour of the Elite, yes you Mandy, is shocking.

If the scales are imbalanced, they will tip over. Chaos will follow, etc.

And Elitists like Mandy will be laughing at us all the way to the bank and the halls of power.

Debbie should have the right to die with dignity. We all die, everyone dies, after all. I do hope that any rulings aren't abused or twisted or perverted by the government in future times, to list any mishaps as 'assisted suicide', especially if the ruling made today is in her favour.
That said, I wish her well.

Given the impending Geezer Surfeit, sheer pragmatism will dictate that we'll have to start knocking off the old and crippled sooner or later, rather than keeping them alive at all costs.

I'm all for taking away their free bus passes, and giving them (British Made) motorcycles when they hit 60. Might as well go out in style.

Nobody has ever been prosecuted for this, however, the whole point of this law is ensure that people who "off" a relative or somebody else without the proof required for a murder charge can be brought to book. I bet she is on legal aid, far cheaper to buy the poor lady a one way ticket to switzerland

Her life is indeed her own and there's no law against her suicide. This is not about the right to die, but the right to kill. There's no way her partner would be guilty just by accompanying her but he should take no active part in her death. As if he would want to. All the ill-informed cries about changes to the law are generating an atmosphere where euthanasia will become inevitable, and you will all be at the mercy of your impatient heirs or irritated medics fed up with palliative care. Beware here.

They're all cunts.

The bastard proponents of Sharia Law are even worse, including that fucktard Rowan Williams.

drugs should be legalised......
if you are aged 18 you should be allowed to put anything you like into your own body (i am sure that mandy will agree on that point)!

nobody forces people to take them and we cannot protect everyone from everything.........people are addicted to many things, drugs, booze, cake, gambling, watching soaps.......but i dont see demonstrations outside Cadbury's !!!!

it is time that this country was forced into being mature and taking bold decisions.the u.s made laws that were dictated by religious nutters and we duly followed.

legalize all drugs and then organized crime will suffer.prices will fall and crimes such as burglary will fall(many police agree with this).......
addicts will not suffer from using dirty needles or contaminated drugs(anyone for rat poison)?

whether suicide or drug taking it is all down to personal choice.......
sadly those that say they are protecting us are actually forcing their ideas/ideals upon others which in fact is taking away our freedoms.yet those with missionary zeal and nice fat fees will obviously not accept that......

We need more like this one:

A Mayor elected after promising to slash council spending, clear the streets of yobs and ditch politically correct services is the torchbearer for how towns should be run.

On his first morning as Mayor of Doncaster in South Yorkshire , Peter Davies cut his salary from £73,000 to £30,000 then closed the council’s newspaper for "peddling politics on the rates".
Now three weeks into his job, Mr Davies is pressing ahead with plans he hopes will see the number of town councillors cut from 63 to just 21, saving taxpayers £800,000.
Mr Davies said: "If 100 senators can run the United States of America , I can’t see how 63 councillors are needed to run Doncaster ".

He has withdrawn Doncaster from the Local Government Association and the Local Government Information Unit, saving another £200,000. Mr Davies said, "They are just talking shops".
" Doncaster is in for some serious untwinning. We are twinned with probably nine other cities around the world and they are just for people to fly off and have a binge at the council’s expense".

The mayor’s chauffeur-driven car has also been axed by Mr Davies and the driver given another job. Mr Davies, born and bred in Doncaster, swept to power in the May election with 24,244 votes as a candidate for the English Democrats, a party that wants tight immigration curbs, an English Parliament and a law forcing every public building to fly the flag of St. George.

He has promised to end council funding for Doncaster ’s International Women’s Day, Black History Month and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month.
He said, "Politicians have got completely out of touch with what people want.
"We need to cut costs. I want to pass on some savings I make in reduced taxes and use the rest for things we really need, like improved children’s services".
Mr Davies has received messages from well wishers across the country and abroad as news of his no-nonsense approach spreads.
Now it’s your chance to spread this most sensible way to run a town council.

Way to go. But you can bet the knives are out. Cutting staffing levels may not be quite so easy, but the thought of "Diversity Officers", "Anti-Bullying Teams", and other Non-jobs ending on the dole is pleasing

wv spork

I see the politically correct arse hole donkeys who rule us are censoring the Union flag now. They're a delicate bunch of flowers. Fuckwits.

Fuck Debbie and her partner,

she would leave many people vulnerable, vuklnerable to an evil state and social pressure to end life.

If she wants to end her own life she could do this easy enough.

Why wait until things have got so far that you yourself would be incapable of swallowing some fucking liquidated pills!

If this goes through many people will be at risk and the goverment will start applying social pressure on people to end their lifes - `for the good of the family` - for the good of the state.

Fuck that shit!

Gunthrum you have gone insane!

Anonymous @ 15:45, I like the cut of that Mayor's jib.

Good luck to him. Piss easy really, it's fighting the cunts at the town hall in their cosy little sinecures that will be tricky.

As for yoof in asia, great idea, send all the cunts out there.

As for the topic, tricky, but you should be able to top yourself in comfort. Less messy.
