Yay! England comes 5th!

I love the reaction from most people when you gently remind them that East Germans had more freedoms than a UK Citizen.

“Rubbish” they say. “Stop over reacting” they wail.

Well, we are now the 5th most Electronic Police State in the World. In fact, only well organised Dictatorships can beat the UK when it comes to storing and searching every little piece of information about you. The harmless citizen.

1st China
2nd North Korea
3rd Belarus
4th Russia
5th England & Wales

The 17 criteria that were used to define an electronic police state are listed below:
Daily documents: How much is required day-to-day for residents to present state-issued identity documents or registration.
Border issues: What is demanded for a border entry.
Financial tracking: The state’s ability to search and record financial transactions.
Gag orders: The penalties for revealing to someone else the state is searching their records.
Anti-crypto laws: Bans on cryptography.
Constitutional protections: Either a lack of protections or someone overriding them.
Data storage: The state’s ability to record and keep what it uncovers.
Data search: The processes to search through data.
ISP data retention: The demand for ISPs to save customers’ records.
Telephone data retention: States’ requirements for communications companies to record and save records.
Cell phone records: The saving and using of cell phone users’ records.
Medical records: Demands from states that medical records retain information.
Enforcement: The state’s ability to use force (SWAT teams) to seize someone.
Habeus corpus: Either an absence of such rights or someone overriding them.
Police-Intel barrier: the absence of a barrier between police and intelligence organizations.
Covert hacking: State operatives meddling in data on private computers covertly.
Loose warrants: Warrants that are being issued without careful review of police claims by a truly independent judge.

You had better change that to sixth!

I live in a former ex soviet bloc state, and i can assure you i moved here to recoup some of the "freedoms" i lost in the UK , and since then it has got a whole lot worse in the UK.

Just one simple fact amongst many, it might seem of no great value but it is just one of a long long list... i can smoke in the pub out of the wind and the rain and all the other shit weather, can you?

I've said it before and I'll say it again said...

I'm off to Bulgaria!

And another thing , i had to go to the main Plod station this morning to change some details on my driving licence , they had a for sale board on the wall which had a card reading thus:

For sale a heckler and Koch 45 semi automatic !

And before any clever cunt asks , yes i do have the phone number and address and no you cant have it.

It was 400 quids by the way.

Corruption is rife, along with kidnapping, but you have the right to bear arms and politicians are regularly bumped off if they step out of line.

Britain in 4th place.Re Belarus. Border checks YES very intense. Fiscal? No. Banking is 19th century they haven't the technology of Western Europe. Ditto computers. I was in Minsk. Photo of Presidential palace. One lone plod, bored. Small Nagan pistol. No spy/cctv cameras. Ppaer in English scathing of Lukashenko. I don't doubt for a minute if I was mixed up with the Polish expats I would have had a nice time,or govt opposition but no poor cunt like Tomlinson was beaten to death in my visit.

I see that India is yellow. Not to worry, as all laws are pretty much optional over here. Bastard hot at the moment though. Still, the Monsoon in a week or two will sort that out. Then it will be bastard wet for months.

India probably has the UK beat for political corruption too. There are politicians who are being investigated for murder. Rather more exciting than duck islands. Where's Jeremy Thorpe when you need him?

"i can smoke in the pub out of the wind and the rain and all the other shit weather, can you?" Well, err yes, but I've got to take a two hour journey to Leeds to do so. The landlord is sticking two fingers up at this god awefull law.

Well that sort of puts my 200 yards stroll to shame, and i dont have to worry too much about an "enforcement" officer walking in and doling out a fine of 80 quids or so , and the landlrd dont worry his arse too much about risking his business.

Oh , and the beer is less than one Euro... for a litre! and twenty Marlboro an outragous one pound and 40 pence.

The Slovak and Czech women are not too terrible either.

Everything to hide, everything to fear.

The right to privacy means nothing to the state, but means everything to the individual.

I hope the MPs remember that when they consider their toilet seat bills were exposed in the DT, and how it feels.

I used to be naive enough to believe that this wouldn't happen with a left of centre government. I can't explain my belief now as all the evidence indicates that it is almost certain to happen with left leaning regimes. Perhaps over the years I was indoctrinated with the belief that only governments of the right would behave in this way? The left were a bit wooly but generaly caring, perhaps to a fault while the right were brutal and oppressive.
What an eye opener the past ten years or so has been!!
I feel embarrased about my former credulity.

I should fucking well think so , so of us were not taken in by all the waffle and bullshit for one bastard second? what did you think was going to happen!

And to escape, some of us felt forced to take our skills , our families, and what assets we had out of the Socialist bastard nightmare of the UK.

I see Scotland's 13th on this report - we've never been ones to be satisfied with trailing England for long, and with a still-strong majority of Lab constituencies up 'ere (pending an election), I suspect we won't.

4th place, here we come...!
