Thought Police in the UK

Hal G. P. Colebatch April 21, 2009
Article from: The Australian

BRITAIN appears to be evolving into the first modern soft totalitarian state. As a sometime teacher of political science and international law, I do not use the term totalitarian loosely.
There are no concentration camps or gulags but there are thought police with unprecedented powers to dictate ways of thinking and sniff out heresy, and there can be harsh punishments for dissent.

Nikolai Bukharin claimed one of the Bolshevik Revolution's principal tasks was "to alter people's actual psychology". Britain is not Bolshevik, but a campaign to alter people's psychology and create a new Homo britannicus is under way without even a fig leaf of disguise.

The Government is pushing ahead with legislation that will criminalise politically incorrect jokes, with a maximum punishment of up to seven years' prison. The House of Lords tried to insert a free-speech amendment, but Justice Secretary Jack Straw knocked it out. It was Straw who previously called for a redefinition of Englishness and suggested the "global baggage of empire" was linked to soccer violence by "racist and xenophobic white males". He claimed the English "propensity for violence" was used to subjugate Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and that the English as a race were "potentially very aggressive".

In the past 10 years I have collected reports of many instances of draconian punishments, including the arrest and criminal prosecution of children, for thought-crimes and offences against political correctness.

Countryside Restoration Trust chairman and columnist Robin Page said at a rally against the Government's anti-hunting laws in Gloucestershire in 2002: "If you are a black vegetarian Muslim asylum-seeking one-legged lesbian lorry driver, I want the same rights as you." Page was arrested, and after four months he received a letter saying no charges would be pressed, but that: "If further evidence comes to our attention whereby your involvement is implicated, we will seek to initiate proceedings." It took him five years to clear his name.

Page was at least an adult. In September 2006, a 14-year-old schoolgirl, Codie Stott, asked a teacher if she could sit with another group to do a science project as all the girls with her spoke only Urdu. The teacher's first response, according to Stott, was to scream at her: "It's racist, you're going to get done by the police!" Upset and terrified, the schoolgirl went outside to calm down. The teacher called the police and a few days later, presumably after officialdom had thought the matter over, she was arrested and taken to a police station, where she was fingerprinted and photographed. According to her mother, she was placed in a bare cell for 3 1/2 hours. She was questioned on suspicion of committing a racial public order offence and then released without charge. The school was said to be investigating what further action to take, not against the teacher, but against Stott. Headmaster Anthony Edkins reportedly said: "An allegation of a serious nature was made concerning a racially motivated remark. We aim to ensure a caring and tolerant attitude towards pupils of all ethnic backgrounds and will not stand for racism in any form."

A 10-year-old child was arrested and brought before a judge, for having allegedly called an 11-year-old boya "Paki" and "bin Laden" during a playground argument at a primary school (the other boy had called him a skunk and a Teletubby). When it reached the court the case had cost taxpayers pound stg. 25,000. The accused was so distressed that he had stopped attending school. The judge, Jonathan Finestein, said: "Have we really got to the stage where we are prosecuting 10-year-old boys because of political correctness? There are major crimes out there and the police don't bother to prosecute. This is nonsense."

Finestein was fiercely attacked by teaching union leaders, as in those witch-hunt trials where any who spoke in defence of an accused or pointed to defects in the prosecution were immediately targeted as witches and candidates for burning.

Hate-crime police investigated Basil Brush, a puppet fox on children's television, who had made a joke about Gypsies. The BBC confessed that Brush had behaved inappropriately and assured police that the episode would be banned.

A bishop was warned by the police for not having done enough to "celebrate diversity", the enforcing of which is now apparently a police function. A Christian home for retired clergy and religious workers lost a grant because it would not reveal to official snoopers how many of the residents were homosexual. That they had never been asked was taken as evidence of homophobia.

Muslim parents who objected to young children being given books advocating same-sex marriage and adoption at one school last year had their wishes respected and the offending material withdrawn. This year, Muslim and Christian parents at another school objecting to the same material have not only had their objections ignored but have been threatened with prosecution if they withdraw their children.

There have been innumerable cases in recent months of people in schools, hospitals and other institutions losing their jobs because of various religious scruples, often, as in the East Germany of yore, not shouted fanatically from the rooftops but betrayed in private conversations and reported to authorities. The crime of one nurse was to offer to pray for a patient, who did not complain but merely mentioned the matter to another nurse. A primary school receptionist, Jennie Cain, whose five-year-old daughter was told off for talking about Jesus in class, faces the sack for seeking support from her church. A private email from her to other members of the church asking for prayers fell into the hands of school authorities.

Permissiveness as well as draconianism can be deployed to destroy socially accepted norms and values. The Royal Navy, for instance, has installed a satanist chapel in a warship to accommodate the proclivities of a satanist crew member. "What would Nelson have said?" is a British newspaper cliche about navy scandals, but in this case seems a legitimate question. Satanist paraphernalia is also supplied to prison inmates who need it.

This campaign seems to come from unelected or quasi-governmental bodies controlling various institutions, which are more or less unanswerable to electors, more than it does directly from the Government, although the Government helps drive it and condones it in a fudged and deniable manner.

Any one of these incidents might be dismissed as an aberration, but taken together - and I have only mentioned a tiny sample; more are reported almost every day - they add up to a pretty clear picture.

Hal G. P. Colebatch's Blair's Britain was chosen as a book of the year by The Spectator in 1999.

A few years ago I knew an officer from the Peoples Republic of Manchester and he was one of the few that was OK. We got on very well as I had to deal with him through work and over a cup of tea one day told me this tale. In South Manchester that year some 80% of housing grants were taken by Muslims this seems to me to be an understatement the amount of mosques being built but there you go. H was telling someone the same tale in the office at the Town Hall Kremlin on a Monday morning and was overheard by some tart who immediately went and told the fucking" team leader" this poor sod was dragged in front of a commitee and was told, now this guy had worked for the council for donkeys years and as I say was OK and threatened with the sack for wait for it "racism" so now you can get the bullet for telling the truth. If I knew this cows name and address I would contact her and ask her what colour black she would like her burkha to be because the way things are going she will need one.

It is us old'uns who are very worried. I think the younger generations are just intent on having fun. But it will be those who will inherit the "new order" once the Marxists plans have been completed.

I will be dead by then, and the young will get what they deserve by either switching off from politics, or voting the way their parent's have voted and their parents before them.

If you have a bad arm and you don't exercise it, it will become unusable. The same goes for your mind!

It's about creating a climate of fear. There's a lot of stories appear which turn out in the end to be nonsense, but the seed of doubt has been planted.

"You can't say that"

"Says who?"

"Umm, you just can't, I read it in the paper or it was on the telly or something"

Nobody's sure what they can or can't do any more so the safest thing to do is say nothing, do nothing.

People are frightened of the State.

In my view it should always be the other way round.

It seems the trick is to use a cover that few would/could argue with to introduce represive measures, and gradually tighten the screws, resorting to the initial cover story when confronted. Slow boiling once we are in the water.

Free yourselves

I don't care what people think. I refuse to be be judged. It is my life and I don't need permission to live it how I please. Laugh at me, mock me, ridicule me, insult me. You can only do that if I give you permission to. I don't.

Sure, I don't get invited to many dinner parties or play golf but I can live with that.

Challenge them. Always. When they say "you shouldn't" or "you can't" ask them to put it in writing, right there. Hold them to their words. You can be damn sure they'll collapse before they'll commit to paper.

Stand up to them. Always. You only get one life, don't let some Righteous pompous self important cockwaft tell you how to live yours. It belongs to YOU, no one else.

OH, you talk a good game I'll grant you that. But apart from dressing up like your favourite film character and venting spleen on your blog, what are you actually *doing* about any of this ?

I'm definitely voting for the BNP in June because they seem like the only hope for anyone wanting to rid themselves of these Marxist cunts who call themselves 'New Labour'.

I fully expect either yourself (or that prick Guthrum) to come back with some nonsense jibe about striped pyjamas but you know what.... I couldn't give a shit about your ideological nit-picking.

We are in deep shit right now (and I'm referring to schoolgirls being arrested and having their DNA taken, not the financial mess which can be fixed quite easily) and you Gibraltarians only seem interested in pursuing some utopian ideal of (virtually) zero government which, let's face it, is an impossible isealistic dream which is never going to happen.

You lot are literally fiddling while Rome burns.

But don't worry OH, I think you might actually like life under a BNP regime - believe me, you would be afforded far more personal liberty than you have ever experienced in your life to date.

You are waking up.
This shit has been going on for quite some time, those who have been trying to expose it have been slured, pillored, ridiculed, spat at, villified, beaten up and more.
Better late than never I suppose.

The BNP are the only real resistance to the liblabcontrick. You guys should join up and form the libitarian wing of the BNP!
The only advantage of NOT joinng up would be to witness the left and the koranimals tear each other apart at some time in the not too distant future,if you're stll alive and at liberty.

Rotten empires implode. It is historically, 100% fact.

I have always said political correctness will eat itself. What I mean by that is it's inherent contradictions and irreconcilable and opposing factions. Plus, people wont stand for it forever.

Why do you think Boris was elected mayor of London?

Why are people openly telling us they will vote BNP?

Because people have had enough!

An education minister recently brushed aside, as "speculative" the fact that all over the country, more parents are choosing to home-school their kids. This has only been happening since 1997.

The rest of us, with money, have sent their kids to the independent sector, except that Labour has done what it can to destroy it.

But the main point is this "soft totalitarianism" remember the words of Rule Britannia? Ultimately the worm will turn. The pc brigade are on a roll now, but their days are numbered.

Those stories when all lumped together show just how far into the shit our canoe has travelled. And no paddle. You will of course notice that this is all public sector. Schools of course seem to be highly implicated. That judge who said the calling a boy a Paki incident was ridiculous then had a huge amount of shit thrown at him by the NUT and other left wing teachers' organisations.

I fully expect to end up in jail sometime soon because I will not curb my freedom of speech. These twats must remember Muslims aren't a fucking race!

While I can't think why a Satanist would require a chapel, and "chapel" in this case probably meant "ex broom cupboard", why is this a bad thing? If (muslims/christians/jews) get (time to pray/access to priests/kosher food), why is Satanists having access to paraphanalia (Probably just a few symbols and books) a bad thing?

The 'state of emergency' hype around swine flu might well be an excuse to ban large gatherings of people. Only eight cases so far, it's easily containable but I have a feeling they won't try too hard.

No large gatherings - for our own safety - means no protests. No rallies. No big meetings.

They won't pass up this chance.

If they're going to sanction Satanism officially then, given the nature of Satanism, could we demand the religious right to perform e.g. ritual pissing / shitting / menstruating on the Bible and Koran as part of the Black Mass?

Since modern 'organised' Satanism was concocted by the late Anton LaVey essentially for laughs, I am sure he would have approved. Mind you, he also insisted that all religions were businesses and opposed tax exemptions for religion in general.

[Strawman Jack] claimed the English "propensity for violence" was used to subjugate Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and that the English as a race were "potentially very aggressive".He's right though.

The English are, historically, a very nasty bunch.

And he's poking at them with a sharp stick. Over and over and over.

Wonder what makes him think that's a good idea?

""Permissiveness as well as draconianism can be deployed to destroy socially accepted norms and values." - At this, I lost it. "

Hmm.. did this sentence make you think "No, you're a loon" and stop reading?

Because if it did, think again, because he's right. Permissive politics can be used to undermine the values of the enemies of the ideal society. That's the society which will inevitably result from political correctness once all bad thoughts have been eradicated.

For an example, look at the next post up on OH. It's about marriage. In 1950, almost everyone got married before starting a family. In 2000, many people started a family without being married. What happened? A socially accepted norm or value was destroyed by permissiveness, bringing us all one step closer to the ideal society, with no gender fascism.

You can be damn sure they'll collapse before they'll commit to paper.I'm always staggered how supine the British public can be. If my kid was jailed for something as ridiculous, I'd be raising merry hell about it and taking names, numbers, and careers along the way.

Fighting needn't be physical, all it takes is to front these cunts up and raise merry hell.

We are in this position because too many people just shrink away from confrontation. Ask questions. Demand answers. Threaten their livelihoods. Tell them you are going to your MP, the papers, their professional organisation, their ruling authority. And let them know you won't stop and you will never leave them alone.

Instil the fear into them that they have instilled into the sheep around us.

Dare them to take you on. They won't. And if they do (which I dream about), it's a perfect way of exposing their lies and idealistic bullshit.

Seriously. Do it, it is very satisfying. The worst thing to do is just shrug shoulders and say "mustn't grumble".

That is why we are in the position of seeing an Australian newspaper publish what the majority in the UK can see but no-one wishes to confront.

What fucking planet does the BNP live on. You don't get to afford anybody thier personal liberty you fucking twats. No government does. Personal liberty has always been there for those who want it just as government oppression is there for those who want it. Its a choice.

Yes, since time began I would imagine. The pussies took it and cried about it then lost. Get used to it though because when society collapses the rivers will run red with as much of your fascist blood as it will of muslim blood and indeed the blood of anyone who dares claim government over me and my land.

Meanwhile, our 646 MP's are seeking to offer themsleves some protection with the introduction of a bill aimed at allowing them to get away with lying to the public, screwing up and anything else they want to do in our name. It is called the 'Exercise of Reasonable Discretion Bill', sponsored by a Tory, but no doubt supporeted by each and everyone of New Labour's former and current ministers! More here:
