Her father, Lord Gould, was given his peerage by Mr Blair for his role in helping to found New Labour: there are photos of Neil Kinnock, the former Labour leader, bouncing Ms Gould on his knee when she was a baby. Her mother is a close friend of the Blairs. Eyebrows were also raised when Alastair Campbell and Tessa Jowell lent Ms Gould their public support.
All this has enraged Lord Gould. "It is outrageous and unacceptable that people are conducting a smear campaign of this sort against my daughter,” he said. “This is simply unacceptable and must stop. Georgia has received absolutely no preferential treatment whatsoever, and has done it all on her own. Any success she has is from her own efforts and hard work, her own drive and determination."

Ms Benn (Emily) is indeed a relation (Tony's grand-daughter, Hillary's niece). She was selected whilst still only 17, and if Snotty hadn't shat himself and called off the Oct 2007 election she would have been too young to actually take up her seat if elected.
