The Wealth of a Nation

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the rich out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything the government does not first take from somebody else.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply the wealth by dividing it."

Count me in as one of the "sick to death of playing by the rules all my life brigade, only to get ripped off by all the tax dodgers and benefits cheats (and those who exploit the system)"

This is straight out of The Labour and Socialist Handbook, or Animal Farm if you prefer.

Socialism = Perpetual Motion...and we all know what a motion is.

I look around my neighbourhood, and feel a warm glow that my hard toiled for tax money, earned for the past 23 years, keeps my neighbours in comfort, sky plus, buckfast, big fuck off plasma tvs', brand new nike trainers, lie in bed till lunchtime, free rent, free council tax, free benefits, free public travel, free taxi travel, not a care in the world. Yes it makes me feel good!

It's got so bad that one could view benefit cheats, tax dodgers and compensayshun seekers as heroes of sorts.

Each of their grubby little scams is stamping down that little bit harder on the creaking bridge, bringing it that little bit closer to collapse.

It's a shame that most of the people who despise these type of folks are useless fuckers themselves, we are fucked because we think sitting behind a desk is work, you probably cost the economy more than half a dozen dole dossers, after all someone has to grow your food and pay your wages, all you do is shuffle paper, what effing use is that?

I work in the private sector, not the fucking public sector you anonytwat.

Steady on Rab, as Mary doll has told you many times - they don't work in the public sector.

Nice quote OH - succint and eloquent.

The most capable, productive people have already shrugged, otherwise the current collapse would not be happening. Just look at the dross left behind, the incompetent and talentless garbage infesting Westminster. I slowed down years ago when I saw where the money stolen from me was going. It really is not worth the effort when the 'rewards' of that effort are given away to those I would normally despise. The trouble is that after such a long period of judaeo-christian ethics and the preaching that somehow we are our brothers' keepers, many people are uncomfortable about looking after their own interests. Fortunately the scales are falling from the eyes of many. Happy days.JD
Thank you for your support, JD.

I was a little young, but I remeber Shelley - Hywel Bennet (sp?).

He'd be an agressive go getter by modern standards - 'e left the 'ouse / flat an evryfing dinnee.

The Slobs, Wayne and Waynetta, seem to be modern role models.

Hatie Harman could learn from Waynetta, she wonnted a brahn baby dinshe. Far more diverse than Hatie herself.

Another gem from the erstwhile Dr R:

“I believe slavery is a much maligned institution; if we had slavery today, we would not have this welfare mess.”

Although, that would probably only make you a bigger fan, OH.
