Change of plan
I've decided - suddenly, spontaneously - that this has gone on too long. Someone told me the other day he finds it 'depressing' to read the comments on this blog, and I have to agree. I'm not at all comfortable with the fact that some deeply unpleasant people are using it to promote their deeply unpleasant views, or that I have reached the stage of praying that some of my constituents don't read some of the comments, or that I decided against posting some pictures of Ugandan orphans performing at No. 10 because I thought it would attract abuse. Or, indeed, the fact that I'm almost self-censoring myself from writing about topics such as immigration or the Shannon Matthews case because of the comments that are likely to follow, which would be offensive and insulting to many of my constituents (who are the ones I really want to read this).
So, I'm going to moderate comments - reluctantly - from now on. And there are some people I just don't want on this site, and won't be accepting comments from.
Kerry, sweetie, you are reading depressing comments because we are in a depression. You and your colleagues caused it. I don’t want to see pictures of Ugandan Orphans outside number 10 your blog. I want to know what you are doing about YOUR patch, the most violent street in the UK. If you find yourself unable to speak freely about immigration or Shannon Matthews, it is because you know the shite we are all regarding one million illegals or an entire generation of “unemployables” as you call them were created by the government you work for slavishly. You have now decided to go the classic route of censorship.
Your blog will die a slow lingering death as people stop checking to see if you will allow their contributions or not. Blogging is not about brochureware Kerry. It is not a virtual pamphlet to be stuffed through letterboxes. It is about debate. You work for us Kerry. Answer our fucking questions. You're spending our money, we pay you and you control every aspect of our fucking miserable lives. Do as YOU are fucking well told.
By the way, you can chat to her on Facebook, if you like. Oh, and trust me Kerry, according to my server logs, you read my blog a lot more than I (or anyone else) reads yours.
