Paul Flynn MP thinks 1984 is about banning smoking

Oh Dear.

Of course, MP's can still smoke in the Strangers Bar in the House of Commons. No standing in the rain for them. Maybe we should send them Animal Farm next.

If I might just ask one question, in the light of several very distressing and upsetting headlines in the media today.

Are you really and truly proud of what you and your colleagues have done to this country since 1997?

I could add many many more.

"We're sorry, your comment has not been published because TypePad's antispam filter has flagged it as potential comment spam. It has been held for review by the blog's author."

Shan't hold my breath waiting for any answer.

My long reply was held up as spam too. Here's the actual wording of the note that accompanied the book:

"ContactPoint (to record our interactions with state agencies from birth to 18), National Identity Register (takes over at 18), DWP Longitudinal Study (links tax, social security, pension, ISA, TESSA, PEP info with names and addresses), Intercept Modernisation Programme (records every communication detail), ANPR (to record all vehicle journeys), CRB database (proven and UNPROVEN allegations), National DNA Database (criminals AND the innocent).

Fingerprint Database of Children to come in 2009!

26,000 new laws, 3,000 new crimes created since 1997.

Abolished Right to silence
Police Act allows Police to break into innocent homes
Terrorism Act which can be used on anyone without proof
RIPA surveillance without warrant
RIPA can be used by over 700 LAs as well as Police
Abolishing Right to trial by jury
Detention without charge increased to 28 days
Pushing for 42 days despite democratic rejection
ID Cards despite overwhelming public disapproval

Undemocratic Blanket Smoking Ban (not voted for by the public)
Referendum on EU Constitution (voted for by public but denied)
Proposals for minimum price for alcohol
Proposals for separate queues for buying alcohol
Further draconian abuses of smokers
Bans on certain foodstuffs
Proposals to ban siting of fast food businesses
Proposals to ban smoking in private cars, homes
Bin taxes, criminalisation of minor bin transgressions
Compulsory sex education for kids, with no parent veto
History/Geography abolished in favour of ‘healthy lifestyles’ etc.
Kids indoctrinated to shop anti-establishment comments
Use of terrorism legislation for littering, school admissions, dog fouling, and other intrusive public surveillance

The general gross exaggeration of emotive scare subjects, paedophilia, terrorism, cancer, climate change, to subject the electorate to ever-increasing control, fines, surveillance, restrictions, abuse, bigotry, discrimination, de-normalisation, taxes.

Please read this book again, Mr Flynn.

(LARGE letters) It is a WARNING

NOT an Instruction Manual"

Perhaps what flummoxed him was what I thought a witty bastardisation of the eBay seller's cliche, which I added at the bottom because of his anti-smoking obsession "This message does NOT come from a smoke & pet free home"

It seems that went right over his head too.

Try snuff. I have been snuffing for about 8 months now. I has all the pleasing narcotic effects of cigarette smoking without attracting social disdain. In fact I had to pass my snuff around a bar recently as it created interest and enthusiasm.

I hesitate to mention it here, and do so in the spirit of sharing, but if enough people change over to snuff, the buggers will tax it. (It does not attract duty)

To start, try Poschl's Ozona President or Lowen Prise, then move on to Fribourg and Treyer's Bordeaux or Samuel Gawith's Kendal Brown.

You will find that Messrs G Smith & Sons, 74 Charing Cross Road, will be attentive to your new habit.

Watch your posts on Flynn's blog as he retrospectively edits both his and yours.

Penguin: He also edits with impunity and even changes posts to make the poster seem stupid. He's a haughty, arrogant and nasty individual ... which is why I chose him for the 1984 campaign.

Oh yeah. Watch out for Patrick on there too. He sucks the brown stuff out of Flynn's crack on whatever subject you care to mention.

He got an invite to the Commons for tea on the Terrace last time as he was one of only 2 that agreed with Flynn amongst the hundreds that didn't.

Had a look at your list. They seem like good ideas most of them. Was just thinking that if you don't like it you could-
A - stand for parliament and change the laws.
B - sod off to another country of your choice.

Mmmm, of course there's always...

C - Take up arms

He seems to have forgotten that one ;-)

PS. I've posted a challenge, doubt he'll accept.

May I suggest that next year LPUK sends all the MPs a copy of 'V for Vendetta'? The truth might suddenly dawn!

Or better still, a North Korean passport and one one ticket.

I'm sure most of them would adore it there. Not as sunny as Cuba but the diet is better... none of those nasties like vitamins or proteins that they'd like to ban here.

From OH's link: "Publicans have backed the call by MPs to ban "happy hour" drinks promotions ..."

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. They also backed the smoking ban (albeit after blackmail by ASH).

Turkeys really DO vote for Christmas sometimes.

Re. Keith Vaz.

That they can give a law and order brief to a man so corrupt that he was suspended just beggars belief.

Even his appointment broke the rules.

Re Mr Flynn, the odious whiskey sodden old cunny of an MP lost a libel case an still has the nerve to call for reform of the libel laws.

Much like putting Gary Glitter in charge of Social Services.

He deletes posts he dislikes/avoids the issue/lies - see his wikipedia page for more on that libel case - and hates farmers.
