The Rapid Rebuttal Unit

Old Holborn is not the author of this post. That acolade belongs to Dungeekin

"PRWeek can reveal that the Labour Party is exploring plans for an online rapid rebuttal unit, designed to kill off damaging stories circulating in the blogosphere."

This is being discussed elsewhere, as you may imagine. However, I would like to state my personal feelings on the matter.

< mode="rant">

Tell ya what - try and kill off THIS damaging story, you bunch of semi-literate halfwits....

You over there in the Parliamentary Labour Party.

You are, each and every one of you, the fetid droppings of a plague-carrying rattus rattus, prepared to mislead, cheat and outright LIE to keep your grubby paws in the till of this country's resources.

You are led by a scruffy, malformed, mouth-breathing, degenerate weasel, who suffers from a pathological inability to answer a direct question, who has in his eleven years in Government overseen the creation of a benefit state, sold off gold at the lowest price in recent memory, ridden an artificial house-price bubble inflated by personal debt and astronomical borrowing, and reduced the position of Prime Minister And First Lord of the Treasury to an international laughing stock.

You led British servicemen into an illegal war against the wishes of the United Nations, and denied them the equipment and resources they needed even to stay alive, much less perform the task with which they were charged.

Your Chancellor is a weak, shallow, cretinous and vapid creature whose primary talent appears to be caterpillar-balancing. Your Home Secretary is an evil misandrist (fucking look it up if any one of you has the slightest clue how to use Google) who has implemented legislation that in any genuinely fair society would be deemed outrageously discriminatory.

You claimed, in 1997, that you would be 'whiter than white'. Are we supposed, therefore, to ignore David Blunkett? There's 2 incidences of sleaze right there. Or Peter Mandelson? Another two. Or Keith Vaz. Or Tessa Jowell and the mystery mortgage. Peter Hain. Wendy Alexander. And let's not forget the former Prime Minister being interviewed by Police in connection with 'Cash-For-Peerages'.

You claim 'fairness for all' is in your DNA, yet you removed the 10p tax rate, and instituted a Tax Credits system that creates an ever-larger pool of people for whom living off the State is more profitable than working - and you tax those of us who DO work ever more for the privilege.

You are the socialist morons who have 'redistributed wealth'by decimating the pension pots of every worker in this country and by denying essential public sector workers a pay increase that even met your own, dishonest and artificial inflation figures. Yet you fatten your own wallets on our taxes with the John Lewis List, second homes, unfettered expenses and a gold-plated, index-linked pension plan.

With the elderly freezing to death, children leaving primary school unable to read (yet perfectly able to understand the 'crimes of Thatcher', apparently), violent crime rising, the decimation of our civil liberties, limitations on the right to peaceful protest, 42-day detention and the wanton destruction of an economy YOU were entrusted with - now you want to trample on the only civil right the people of the (soon-to-be dissolved) United Kingdom have left - free speech.

You're so completely spineless and incompetent that you can't even conspire against each other with any real effectiveness. You're small, pathetic turds who contribute nothing to this nation other than adding to the signal:noise ratio.

Just try and take away free speech - I'm only one person, there are millions of people out there, and millions of bloggers. There are other countries where websites can be hosted. You censor one of us, we'll simply repost their material on our sites. Censor another, we'll host it elsewhere. Our opinions mean something, even though you lack the basic intellect to comprehend them. We are Legion, and we have a bloody site more knowledge than you give us credit for.

We are economists, financiers, postmen, IT geeks, labourers, photographers, workers of every colour and creed and social background. And our one 'Common Purpose' (to use your bullshit phrase) is that we can see through your lies and your spin to the grubby little motives which underlie them.

Your cracked, deluded dream of 'fairness' is to drag everyone down until they're all dependent upon the State. 'From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs', isn't it? Well, you know what? Marx has been discredited in every country that's tried his utopian philosophy. You want proof? Fuck off to North Korea and live there for a while, try their socialist 'paradise' before you attempt to create one here.

Just try and censor me, fucknuts. Just try it and see how far you get.

It looks like your < mode = rant > function wasn't turned on properly, your list of ZNL's failings seems fairly accurate and well-informed.

Labour NZ pioneered this over a year ago. They have a blog which is run from the PM's office and uses parliamentary staffers and union staff to publish posts.
The link is
Please do not comment there. It only encourages the bastards

Bad form, I know, but if you add to the signal:noise ratio, things get clearer - although I suppose it depends what you add. And a gold-plated pension is rubbish - like jewelry from Elizabeth Duke. A golden pension (which is what these bastards have wrangled themselves - although back to times before NL) would be worth more.

Yes, excellent. The only thing I would pick issue with is the idea of an illegal war. I fail to understand this point. Regardless of one's views on the war in Iraq (and I waver on it, even though it is undoubtedly a 'bad thing'), I wasn't aware we needed the UN's permission to take up arms. Surely needing the UN's say so is as bad as needing the EU's permission to do anything?

To draw an unlikely comparison, if evidence appeared to show that Iceland had introduced concentration camps for pygmies, and we decided to use military force to resolve this, in defiance of the UN, would this make the action illegal?

I feel the illegal war argument is used lazily as a trump card by those against the war when there are more convincing arguments.

Sterling work Holborn.

Come to think of it, it's worth for more than Sterling.

Henry Crun said...

Snowolf, you clearly are a cretin.

Our troops were sent into Iraq on a false premise. The "deployment of WMD in 45 minutes" argument which Blair and Campbell cribbed off some 6th form course work, sexed up, offed Dr David Kelly who knew the whole thing was a pile of wank, and sold it to parliament.

MPs knew it was wank and only one, just one had the backbone to stand up, say so and resign from the government - Robin Cook. Although it may have been payback for Blair & Campbell shafting him over his affair with his secretary.

Add to that the pressure put on the then Attorney General to "change his mind" on the legality of the war and draw your own conclusions.

And Brown doesn't get away with it either, he was the one who, albeit on the cheap, bankrolled the war in Iraq as well as Afghanistan and then has the unmitigated gall to visit the troops on his way to the Olympics. How much cash is being poured down the fucking shitter on London 2012? It would be better spent making sure our troops (yes our own sons, daughters, husbands, wives) are better equipped to do the job they have been given.

Remember, 1 million people marched through the streets of London to protest the war. And still Blair didn't listen.

"We are listening and learning". Well how many times do they need to be told to FUCK OFF, before they finally get the message.

So don't come on here trying to justify the "rightness" or "legality" of a war that was neither right nor legal with such a specious argument.

Call me Infidel said...

Henry Crun I think if you read Snowolf's comment again you will realise it is in fact you who is the cretin. The point that was made was that we do not require the UN's permission to wage war. It was not an attempt to justify the war you half-,it was merely stating the point that people like you foam at the mouth and throw out the "illegal war" crap at the drop of a hat. Why should we as a sovereign nation be dictated to by a piss pot organisation that has the likes of Libya and Sudan on the human rights committe. Fuck me next you'll be telling us how good the EU is for us.

Henry Crun said...

Oi infidel, if we "don't need the UN" to wage a war, then why bother with the whole UN resolution charade?

No we don't as aggressors need to bother asking permission from the UN, but then would have to suffer the consequences of intervention from other security council members - the Russians and the Chinese for instance. It's not like the French would ever intervene now is it?

The fact remains that Blair sold parliament a pack of lies and we went to war on a false premise.

Snowolf said...

Indeed we did go to war on a false premise, I believe that Blair mislead the House, if not wilfully, then certainly with a pretty good idea that the information he provided wasn't on the level. But does that make the war illegal?

I am making no value judgement on the war neither right nor wrong, my point was that I am not convinced the war is illegal.

Why did we go to the UN in the first place? Because we'd certainly look a great deal better going with a resolution than without one. Again, does the fact that we didn't get the resolution and went in anyway mean it is illegal? I dislike Blair intensely, but is he as political head of state liable, or is the country as a whole as he was nominally acting in the name of the British people? If the war is illegal then what sanction is available to the powers that be against the UK or Blair? Who are the powers that be? How and why do they have primacy over our sovereign government? Why have these sanctions not put into place?

These are questions I am asking as I genuinely do not know the answers.

The only thing I am certain of is that the UN is a genuine charade, it is a ridiculous organisation that seeks to exist in a world with no vested national or political interest, this is impossible. The only reason it exists is because leaders are too aware of the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the League of Nations.

So, I accept all the points you made in your original post, Crun, excepting two. The illegality of the war, and your accusation of being cretinous. The illegality purely because I am not sure it is illegal, it just seems to smack of knee jerk 'something must be done' and 'think of the children'-ism.

The cretinous accusation? Well, quite frankly you are incapable of following an emotionally detached argument, and therefore, frankly a cunt. Go and read the Daily Fail instead.

Snowolf - Blair was a good actor and accomplished liar who DID take the UK into war with Iraq on false pretences.
He made the "45 minute WMD" claim to frighten the population into supporting the war - illegal or not.
Brown however, is a baffoon - who's mastery of ecomomics has bankrupted the UK big time.
He blames the US of course for our troubles, but it wasn't the US that sold our fucking gold reserves at a low price, set up the FSA, gave the BOE independence (my arse !) and STILL continues to borrow money we just don't have !
As for Darling - he is a complete tosser - Brown's scapegoat for when things go belly up (soon !)... and the sad thing is that people in the UK would still vote for these cretins if we had a general election tomorrow - the mind boggles.

Henry Crun said...

Snowolf, I apologise for the cretin remark, but accusing me of think of the childrenism is, frankly, beyond the pale. If there's one thing I don't do it is "think about the chiiiiiildruuuuuunnnn!"

If, as I and many others contend, the Iraq war is illegal, what difference does it make? Blair and his cohorts will never stand trial for their deceit.

Do I think it illegal? Yes. We have no right whatsoever to interfere in another countries internal affairs not matter how heinous that country's government governs. cf Zimbabwe - as much as I would have gladly shot Mugabe myself, there is no justification for the UK or any other country to declare war to effect "regime change". However, collectively, international action could be and shaould have been taken against Mugabe.

Similarly with Iraq. Yes Saddam was a complete and utter shit, and yes he deserved to be strung up by the neck. Were we justified in decalring war on Iraq? No. The UK, nor the US for that matter, are not international policemen. It is not up to our government to say who should or shouldn't govern another country. Yes, voice your displeasure and disagreement - but go to war because we don't like someone? I don't think so.

Back top the original question - was the war in Iraq illegal. Yes. the UN resolutions were bogus and nothing more than political arse-covering and sabre-rattling. The military industry decided it wanted a war and Bush and Blair duly delivered.

Henry, Kevin,

ANY country that has oil can expect a visit from Uncle Sam.

I am still furious that Blair was told what to do, and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis are dead as a result of his inability to say "fuck you, Bush". Even fucking Luxemburg said "up your arse, monkey boy"

Still, Iran and Pakistan next eh? From Morocco to Pakistan, from Nigeria to Georgia, the USA WILL kick the Muslims to shit if they even dare think they own the oil they er....own.

Then, he'll start on Venezuela

I still chuckle at the youtube clip of Bush addressing Tony Blair as "Yo Blair". Miranda must have been immediately trasported bag to his fagging days at Fettes.
